Last Licks Café ~ Monthly Coffeehouse

On the fourth Saturday of each month from September through May, the UUFH hosts its Last Licks Café coffeehouse, featuring a diverse array of musical talent, mostly from Long Island. Open mic time gives individuals a chance to share their varied talents, and the featured acts have ranged from singer-songwriters to instrumental jazz to vocal ensemble to chamber music. There’s a modest admission fee and tasty refreshments are on sale. (Fresh strawberries are the signature dessert.)

Last Licks Cafe presents:
Sat., February 27 – 7:30 pm

Bliss-and-AlBliss Blood and Al Street

(Open mic starts 7:30 followed by main act)

Admission $15 ($10 Seniors/Students)

Singer Bliss Blood and virtuoso guitarist Al Street return for their third performance at Last Licks Cafe. Formed as a duo in 2010 to write original acoustic music together, they have released three CDs: “Evanescent,” “Live on the Lilac” and “Unspun,” with 14 all original compositions. Their songs range in style from waltzes, blues and psychedelia to film-inspired torch songs, as well as a new series of “noir” tunes.

Bliss and Al continue to play as a duo and have also expanded their band to include vibraphonist Tom Beckham, Marcus Parsley on horns and Jim Fryer on trumpet and trombone with a repertoire of over 100 tunes, including 1920’s blues and jazz, 50’s and 60’s ‘cool jazz’ vocal tunes, film music and originals.

They perform all around the NY area at places as diverse as The Flatiron Room, The Soho Grand Hotel Club Room, The Manderley Bar in the McKittrick Hotel, wineries and restaurants, and private events.
