UUFH is sponsoring a fundraiser for Rev. Mwibutsa on Saturday, March 8th from 1-3pm in the Main Hall. You may remember Rev. Mwibutsa (“mwee-BOOT-sah”) — he has spoken at UUFH before. (He is the former minister of the UU church in Burundi, which several of us visited with Helen Boxwill a number of years ago. The charming little church and its flowering courtyard were ransacked afterwards in the ongoing political violence in that country, and Rev. Mwibutsa (going by Rev. Fulgence at the time) was arrested, jailed, and tortured before he was able to flee to Canada, where he resides today.) We’ll have a discussion with Rev. Mwibutsa, snacks, desserts, raffles, crafts, and a number of short films. At this time of uncertainty for international aid, we hope you will join us!
